5 STAR LUXURY RESORT40 SUITES

Amangani, meaning “peaceful home”, is located 7,000 feet above sea level, overlooking the majestic Grand Teton Mountains with meadows and grazing land in the valley below. Spectacular setting on top of the world in Jackson Hole! Truly a one-of-a-kind experience, this 'peaceful home' fosters well-being and a connection with the surrounding environment. Luxurious suites with sunken baths overlook the Teton Mountains. Service in a class by itself -- so outstanding, it's beyond comparison. (Housekeepers are invisible; valet details your car; when you arrive you are treated like family...) Expansive infinity pool and whirlpool 800 feet above the valley below, with views of the Grand Tetons. Enjoy the pleasures of a seaweed wrap, massage or individualized yoga instruction. Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks nearby. The town of Jackson is the southern gateway to nearby Grand Teton National Park and to Yellowstone National Park, less than 60 miles away.

Step outside onto the wrap-around patio of your corner suite, eight hundred feet above the Snake River Valley below and look over in wonderment at Grand Teton. The only sounds to be heard are from the grazing cattle on the distant valley floor. Amangani means 'peaceful home' and from the moment you arrive, you are welcomed like family. The entrance is unassuming like a private home, but then you enter into the soaring great room with views over America's quintessential mountain range, the Grand Tetons. Once you catch your breath, you are led twenty stairs down the grand staircase and shown the library and dining room. Next, you are led one more story down the cliffside, passing the Spa and yoga studio on your way outside to the incredible 115-foot infinity lap pool with centerpiece whirlpool. By the time you are taken to your suite, you think you've been sufficiently impressed, but that was only the beginning. Your suite is so luxurious and comforting with East meets West decor, a fireplace and sunken, deep soaking bathtub overlooking the Rockies.

Amangani's new General Manager, Guy Heywood, comes from Amanresorts' flagship properties in Bali. With an international background, he is charismatic with a passion for hospitality, fitting right in with the beautiful people that the resort attracts. He carries out Amanresorts vision and philosophy, which is so different from most hotel companies, creating a home away from home experience. "Anything, anywhere, anytime" says Guy. "Guests do not sign bills, they are treated like family staying in my home." There is no front desk, no tipping and staff (family members) know and use your name. The pool and exercise facilities are open 24 hours a day and the bar, kitchen and art gallery/gift shop are opened at your whim at any time. Your suite is magically made up the instant you leave it, by an invisible housekeeping staff. Amangani's head chef comes from the Four Seasons Resort in Jackson Hole. Like General Manager Guy Heywood, he is very passionate and dedicated. He and his team present food with a Zen-like homage to the freshest of flavors.

Mind, body and spirit soar in this temple of well-being. Temples are the places of worship in Japanese Zen Buddhism. Being at Amangani makes you want to treat your body as a temple. Their award-winning Spa gives you plenty of chances, offering Oriental and Healing therapies, body and facial treatments, as well as personalized fitness and yoga programs.

One day at least should be set aside for Yellowstone National Park and another day for Grand Teton National Park. Amangani will pack you a picnic and arrange private tours with a naturalist. (We had an amazing experience on our way from Amangani to Yellowstone, seeing a bald eagle swoop down right in front of us to pluck its prey.) All through Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, you'll have close encounters with the majestic wildlife. Amangani offers Wildlife Photography Workshops in June and October and Wolf and Bear Expeditions in May, June and October.

Amangani, designed by Ed Tuttle, an Architectural Digest Top 100 architect, says, "I wanted people to be inspired by the splendor of their surroundings, to feel connected to all this natural beauty and to be touched by those human feelings of solace and comfort." He succeeded in creating a work of architecture that is an enduring classic, reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright. Natural materials complement the surrounding hillside, minimizing environmental impact, while creating a sense of harmony with the landscape. The hotel is also filled with inspired works of art, as well as "The Gallery" where you can buy art, photography, sculpture and pottery by native and local artists.

An experience not to be missed is the National Museum of Wildlife Art that is home to the nation's premier public collection of fine art devoted to wildlife. The museum is nestled on a hillside overlooking the National Elk Refuge. Private tours of the museum are available to Amangani guests.

The "off-seasons" are amazing for lovers of wildlife. Spring is a time of awakening when you'll see new baby bison, moose and bears coming out of hibernation. Also experience the mystical landscape of Yellowstone without the crowds.

In Autumn, the call of the bull elk is heard throughout the region during the September-October mating season. Amangani arranges private trips to Jenny Lake, a favored spot for mating elks.

In Summer, there's hot-air ballooning, fly-fishing, river rafting, horseback riding, golf, tennis, a 3-hour hike-and-massage package and Yellowstone day trips with a private guide. In Winter, of course there's world-class skiing. The hotel will transport you to and from the nearby Jackson Hole resort where they maintain a private ski lounge. Also enjoy sleigh rides and dogsled mushing through pristine wilderness.
