5 STAR LUXURY HOTEL • 108 ROOMS & 118 SUITES
Superbly located facing the famous Copacabana beach, the Copacabana Palace Hotel is a true landmark, one of the grandest hotels in South America. Lavishly lighted each evening, its ornate stucco façade sets the tone for two gourmet restaurants, a beauty salon, and a ballroom with a glass floor lighted from below. A full-service business center offers Internet access and secretarial support.
The Copacabana Palace won the Commitment to Excellence award at The Leading Hotels of the World's 2007 annual convention in Barcelona, Spain. A series of Commitment to Quality Awards were given to those properties that achieved the highest scores during Leading Hotels' most recent anonymous inspections. The Copacabana Palace was the winner for the Mexico, Caribbean and South America region, where there are more than 30 Leading Hotels. After an investment of more than $5 million, the Copacabana Palace recently reopened its casino rooms, the Palm and Crystal ballrooms. The renovations began in August 2005. During the renovations, the Peroba Mica and Ipê Tobacco wood floors were reproduced from the original flooring, the Carrara marble on the entrance stairs and the façade Frejó frames were restored, and the hotel's structure was strengthened to withstand the chandeliers' weights of 1,543 pounds each. The renovations were all completed according to specialized techniques provided by the National Historical Patrimony. The Copacabana Palace will also unveil a new urban spa scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2007.
