World's Best New Hotels 2011

Luxury Travel Magazine selects the World’s Best New Hotels*. China is the major hot spot for luxury hotel and resort development this year, with luxury hotel brands Amanresorts, Four Seasons, Fairmont, InterContinental, Luxury Collection, Mandarin Oriental, Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, Trump and Waldorf Astoria opening in cities around the country from Macau and Shanghai to Hangzhou and Lhasa.

Paris is another hot destination for 5-star hotel development, but the new Paris' hotels have something in common -- most of them come from the Far East, reflecting that region's economic growth -- Shangri-la, Raffles and Mandarin Oriental with a Peninsula on the way. Marrakech is also hot with several 5-star luxury hotels opening.

Grand re-openings include the Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane, The Savoy London, The Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai, The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, the Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai, The Astor in Tianjin and Four Seasons Resort Nevis. Designer hotels continue to be a trend with the Hotel Missoni opening in Kuwait and the Armani Hotel opening in Dubai with more in the pipeline.

Closer to home, the Rocky Mountain regions of Colorado and Utah are seeing an increase in 5-star hotels. Four Seasons brings luxury to Colorado, opening Denver and Vail locations. Los Angeles is hot with new hotels Mr. C. Beverly Hills, The Ritz-Carlton at L.A. Live and the re-opening of Hotel Bel Air.
