The following hotels located in Maui, New Orleans, Rome, Vancouver and New York, house museum-worthy collections, and in a few cases, have some of the only artwork of certain artists outside of permanent collections. Artists featured include Fernando Botero, Dale Chihuly, Fernand Leger, George Rodrigue and Giovanni Battista Tiepolo – just to name a few.

• Rome Cavalieri, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel – There are more than 1,000 priceless works of art hanging throughout the hotel and within its suites. In the lobby hang famous Beauvais tapestries -- the only other examples on public display are at the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the Getty Museum in Los Angeles -- and the hotel's prized possession, the Tiepolo cycle, purchased at auction in 2006 for a record sum. Private art tours are available through the concierge.

• Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort – The hotel's artwork, the largest permanent art collection in the state, is publicly displayed throughout the hotel without protective coverings. Art tours are held by art curators of the NaPua Gallery giving detailed backstories on the art and how it came to be at Grand Wailea.

• Windsor Court Hotel – With an art collection estimated at more than $8 million, the hotel has a complimentary audio art tour available through the Windsor Court app, available for free on iPhone and Android.

• The Kitano – The Kitano's most prominent feature is Botero's Dog standing sentry at the lobby stairs. Other featured artists include Red Grooms, Ed Baynard and photographers Joel Greenberg and Henri Silberman with themes depicting various New York landmarks.

• Vancouver's Loden Hotel – Michele Kambolis' original works of art are displayed throughout Vancouver's Loden Hotel, which were inspired by her recent travels, exposing the artist to the great contrast between the calm solitude of Northern British Columbia and the powerful force of tropical storms in the Caribbean.

• Sheraton New Orleans – The hotel embraces its local culture and is committed to educating travelers about New Orleans' art scene that is has partnered with renowned local artists George Rodrigue, and photographer, Jack Robinson.
