A Wine and Architecture Lover's Dream

A Wine and Architecture Lover's Dream
The programs are offered in both Piedmont (Alba) and Tuscany (Maremma). Guests may choose either full or half day excursions through some of Italy's most breathtaking countryside and coastal towns. Each trip explores state-of-the-art wineries, designed and in some cases renovated by world-famous architects.

Piedmont (Alba) - This trip is available for either a half or full day excursions. Each trip includes visits to the Cappella delle Brunate, a tiny chapel built in 1914 that gradually fell into a state of disrepair. The owner of the Ceretto Winery hired two established artists, Sol LeWitt and David Tremlett, to transform the chapel into a piece of contemporary art. Next, guests will marvel at "The Cube" at Ceretto's Bricco Rocche Winery in Castiglione Falletto. A modern piece of artwork, "The Cube" was designed by the Turin architectural firm, Deabate, and merges effortlessly into the surrounding countryside.

Following Bricco Rocche, guests will go on a guided tour of Ceretto's headquarters at the Monsordo Bernardina Winery. Housed in an 18th century farmstead, this project is a magnificent combination of tradition and innovation. Architect Giuseppe Blengini was inspired by the colors of the vines and the fascinating irregularity of the vineyards to create a state-of-the-art space dedicated to wine production and hospitality.
Tuscany (Maremma) – Guests may choose from two full day trips in picturesque Tuscany, where architectural style is influenced by both the Renaissance and contemporary design. Both day trips have guests departing from hotels in Florence.

The first trip stops at the at La Rocca di Frassinello wineries, where architect Renzo Piano has been commissioned to design a new winemaking facility and cellar. Guests will then enjoy lunch the Enoteca la Cinquantina, located inCecina, a small farm city built during the 18th century. Following lunch, the tour moves on to the Petra Wineries in Suvereto, designed by Mario Botta. The winery boasts a unique structure, featuring a cylinder structure of stone surrounded by lush vegetation.

The second full-day tour guests may embark and explore more of the region's picturesque countryside and architecture. Antinori Winery of Tenuta di Biserno will be the first stop for guests in addition to a guided wine tasting and tour of the wine cellars designed by famed architect Gae Aulenti. Guests will enjoy lunch at the restaurant La Pineta di Marina di Bibbona created by Chef Luciano Zazzeri, just steps away from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Guests embark on an afternoon excursion to the Ca' Marcanda Winery, where they will enjoy another guided tour and tasting with some of the region's most famous wines such as DOC of Bolgheri, Barbaresco and Montalcino.
