Abercrombie & Kent's Galapagos Trip Offers Exclusive access to Charles Darwin Research Station
Mark Carwardine is an award winning writer, TV and radio presenter – he presented Radio 4's ‘Nature' and recently co-presented the BBC 2 Series ‘Last Chance to See' with Stephen Fry. He is a widely published wildlife photographer – currently Chairman of the judging panel for the prestigious ‘Veolia Environment Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition'.

Mark will be on hand throughout the trip ready to impart his knowledge and passion for the wildlife on these mystical islands while offering guests the chance for an unrivalled insight into the complex eco systems and environmental issues to make this a truly exceptional trip. He will also offer guidance on photography and the best ways to capture the beauty of these islands.

After boarding the beautiful MV Eclipse at Balta Island, set sail to the newly reopened Punta Albermarle, and with limited access to cruise yachts, this is a superb spot for whale watching. It is also home to the Charles Darwin Research Station for a remarkable insight into the important scientific preservation which is taking place on the islands.

Wildlife abounds; the Green Highlands offer the famous giant tortoises, Black Turtle Cove and its maze of inlets are a nursery to sea turtles, rays and sharks and Pinnacle Rock on Bartolome Island is home to a large colony of native penguins. Whilst exploring the channel between the islands of Fernandina and Isabela you may even encounter the joys of dolphins and whales.

On land there will be an opportunity to hike through the volcanic landscape to Darwin Volcano, trail across to dry interior which leads to the Fur Sea Lion Grottos and explore one of the most dynamic ecosystems of the world Punta Espinoza with species unique to The Galapagos – the flightless cormorant, the marine iguanas and the Galapagos hawk.

Justin Wateridge, Managing Director of Abercrombie & Kent said, “I have great admiration and respect for the work of Mark Carwardine and all his conservation efforts in reminding us of the threats and dangers to our worlds ecosystems, its wildlife and natural environment. I cannot think of anyone I would rather spend time listening to whilst I visited one of the world's most exciting and interesting locations. Mark will leave our guests with a renewed sense of the world around them, I am sure”.

This unique 11 night trip with Mark Carwardine costs from £4,395 per person (offer available until 9th March 2012). Excludes international flights and transfers.
