Antigua's Iconic Curtain Bluff Unveils Refresh for the 2018 Season
The most significant refurbishment of its common spaces since opening, the project encompassed a complete overhaul of the resort entrance, dining spaces, bar, lounge and reception area. International Design Concepts (IDC) and architect Andrew Goodenough were behind the project, designing a fresh contemporary look for the iconic resort featuring hues of blue, turquoise and melon to reflect the ocean colors. Goodenough is intimately familiar with Curtain Bluff having executed a significant expansion project with the resort back in 1983. As part of the refurbishment, Goodenough and his team took great care to preserve some iconic features of the resort, including the tamarind tree that the hotel was built around.

The property’s signature Tamarind Restaurant offers a completely redefined dining experience post-renovation, and the resort’s meeting area also underwent a refresh. Perfect for groups of 20 to 60 people and complete with all necessary presentation equipment, the meeting space provides an ideal setting for weddings, private dinners, cocktail parties, and other events.

In addition, Curtain Bluff’s rooms and suites have been refurnished with bright new fabrics, furnishings and furniture that echo the colors of nature that fill the windows of every room. The Curtain Bluff beach experience has been upgraded as well, with new chaise lounges and sand chairs providing a more sleek look and a “Beach Concierge,” available to cater to guests every sand-perched need. This includes setting up activities and watersports, placing drink orders, sourcing the ideal beach chair or hammock for the day and more.

“Our renovation underscores Curtain Bluff’s commitment to providing a signature luxury experience paired with the utmost level of service that keeps our guests coming back year after year,” said Rob Sherman, Managing Director of Curtain Bluff. “We are thrilled to unveil the changes though we promise our guests that one element that will never change is the family welcome they feel the moment they step foot on property. The resort may have a new updated, elegant look but its charm will always remain the same.”

Curtain Bluff recently unveiled upgrades to its four signature “Hulford Collection” suites, which are named after the resort’s owners and founders and are the pinnacle of iconic Caribbean elegance with spacious accommodations and luxurious furnishings. Each now features a private infinity-edge plunge pool on the terrace overlooking the sea. In addition, the Terrace Suite underwent a complete renovation and redesign including new soft goods and luxury spa bathroom. The Hulford Collection also includes the Grace and Morris Bay Suites and Cliff Suite.
