Ashford Castle Reopens with Historic Celebration After $75 Million Restoration
Dating back to 1228, the hotel was once home to the powerful brewing dynasty, the Guinness family, for over 100 years and had been completely closed since January 2015, before the big unveiling this past weekend. The property reopened with 85 one-of-a-kind guestrooms, a brand-new movie theater, billiards room and rooftop cigar terrace with specialty cigars only available at Ashford Castle; the hotel will also welcome a brand-new spa with gym and indoor swimming pool this summer.

Under the creative direction of Mrs. Tollman and her daughter, Toni Tollman, the property has been beautifully decorated with a range of original artwork, hand-selected antiques and custom-made fabrics. Commenting on the occasion, Mrs. Tollman said: "It is a great honor for my family and for the staff of Ashford Castle to welcome the Prime Minister here today," continuing "we are so proud of this fabulous property - our first in Ireland - and we applaud the work of the many Irish craftsmen and artists who have worked fastidiously with our team to restore Ashford Castle to this glorious state."
