Bavaria's Schloss Elmau to Host G7 Meeting in June 2022

On June 26-28, 2022, Bavaria’s Schloss Elmau destination spa resort will become the first hotel in the world to be given the honor of hosting a G7 summit for a second time. The G7’s annual summits bring together the leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan and the United States. German Chancellor Angela Merkel and U.S. President Barack Obama represented their countries at the 2015 meeting of the G7 at Schloss Elmau.

“We are enormously gratified to be welcoming Germany’s new Chancellor Olaf Scholtz, U.S. President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, as well as the leaders of France, Italy, and Japan,” says Dietmar Müller-Elmau, whose grandfather opened Schloss Elmau in 1916 as a cultural reset.

The December 14th announcement by German Government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit underscored that “with its scenic backdrop, Schloss Elmau has provided an attractive setting for talks and meetings between the heads of state and government in the past: it left a lasting impression worldwide and care was taken to ensure that everything ran smoothly.”

Schloss Elmau, built by the philosopher and theologian Johannes Müller between 1914 and 1916, is a four-story national monument with hipped roof, tower and porch, situated between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald in a sanctuary of the Bavarian Alps, Germany.
