Additionally, as part of the 60th anniversary, the charming St. John escape is commencing a resort-wide renovation of its rooms with phase one being unveiled in November when the resort opens for the 2016 - 2017 season. Phase one of the renovations includes 23 rooms on both Scott Beach and Paradise Beach, followed by phase two taking place in 2017. The renovations will draw from the island's own history (including the incorporation of original cave etchings found on the island in subtle design details) with inspiration from the resort's present and future as well. Additional décor to include underwater photos, original 1950s advertising from the decade in which the resort was founded, carved teak panels, small sculptures, and small paintings from local artists to instill an idyllic and distinct sense of place.
