Canyon Ranch Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Life Enhancement Center
Called “the ultimate expression of the Canyon Ranch mission” by its founder, Mel Zuckerman, the Life Enhancement Center® at Canyon Ranch's flagship property in Tucson marks its 25th anniversary in May with a series of special events that capture the essence of Zuckerman's original goal. “As our guest population began to reflect the vitality of healthy living, we decided to build this sheltered space within Canyon Ranch where guests who still needed to develop healthier lifestyles would find every possible resource for lasting change,” he recalls.

In the 25 years since its inception, the Life Enhancement Center has helped put thousands of guests on the path toward all-healthy living. “In this beautiful, self-contained setting, the Center delivers an engaging, first-hand experience that allows people to take the permanent steps they need to reach their wellness goals,” says Zuckerman. “We are here to make sure no one gives up hope the way I once did.”

Canyon Ranch taps the power of a group dynamic to inspire guests of the Life Enhancement Center. Fitness and movement classes, workshops and group discussions allow participants to explore healthy living in the company of Canyon Ranch's team of professionals, including physicians, nutritionists, exercise physiologists and life management experts. But guests agree that it is the group setting that sets it apart, creating a spirit of support and camaraderie that infuses the experience with energy. Participants enjoy a generous allowance to be used as they choose on consultations that will help them reach their goals. From physician visits and lab testing to health and healing sessions and spa services, the Life Enhancement Center is staffed by experts who are dedicated to advancing wellness.

The month-long celebration kicks off with twice-weekly “Live Younger Longer” lectures by Zuckerman, who will share his personal journey from overweight, overstressed accountant to founder of the world's most celebrated life enhancement brand. On May 6, actress and fitness icon Jane Fonda presented “Life in the Third Act,” an inspiring look at how to age successfully, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

From May 14-17, two founding members of the Canyon Ranch team will speak on topics ranging from happiness and balance to attitude and joyful movement. Dan Baker, Ph.D., the founding Clinical Director of the Life Enhancement Center and co-author of What Happy People Know, will speak on “Making Each Heartbeat Count” on May 14. Founding Fitness Director Karma Kientzler will give back-to-back lectures on May 16 and 17 on “Body Mechanics” and “Is Your Attitude in Balance.”

From May 20-24, the Life Enhancement Center will present a series of daily special lectures that explore “25 Years of Advancements in Health and Healing.” The five-lecture series covers a range of topics, including advancements in integrative medicine, the power and meaning of spirituality and nutrition.
The month-long celebration wraps with a four-lecture series titled “Living With Joy, The Science & Skill of Happiness.” Led by Gary Frost and Doug Smith, the series kicks off on May 27 and focuses on topics such as aging with vitality, energy and happiness and living in the present.

Considered the heart of Canyon Ranch, the Life Enhancement Center® is the nerve-center of Canyon Ranch's ground-breaking Life Enhancement Program®, a week-long program offered year-round exclusively in Tucson. The Center offers guests the opportunity to map a path toward healthier living aided by physicians, nutritionists, life management experts and exercise physiologists.
