Cape Town's Table Bay Hotel Introduces Degustation Menu
The five-course tasting menu involves sampling portions of Orr's signature dishes and each course is complemented by a Cape wine. The Dégustation menu is a true feast for the senses and the Atlantic Grill Restaurant is the perfect setting for this special tasting menu, with its Cape winelands décor and scenic views of the harbor and Table Mountain.

"I've modelled this unique style of dining on Heston Blumenthal and Ferran Adria's Molecular Gastronomy-style cuisine. By applying science to culinary practices the menu is designed to enchant guests visually and to provide extraordinary flavors" Chef Dallas Orr tells us.

This culinary experience begins with an aperitif of Krone Borealis Brut Rosé to enjoy with an amuse-bouche of warm duck salad dressed with vanilla orange foam and duck skin “dust.” The courses draw on an array of diverse culinary inspirations, from rustic Italian to signature South African dishes such as Franschoek trout and Kalahari springbok, but with inventive twists to bring out the chef's culinary magic touch. The wine selections highlight the dishes, from the supple Post House Penny Black to the bright Cape Point Chardonnay and delicious De Kraans port. Orr's cheese course is a round of Gorgonzola in port jelly, spiced tomato chutney and pear brioche, while dessert is a mouth-watering white chocolate and coconut cream cake with poached pineapple and an “iced Alaskan lollypop.”

The Dégustation menu is available beginning now at The Atlantic Grill Restaurant and costs USD $70 per guest; the accompanying wine selection is available at an additional $40.
