Casa Gangotena in Old Town Quito Named To Travel + Leisure's IT LIST 2012
The seventh-annual IT LIST, which hits the newsstands in Travel + Leisure's June issue on May 18, reveals the 50 most exciting new properties around the globe as selected by the magazine's well-traveled editors. Given the number of hotel that open their doors each year, acknowledgement as one of the world's top 50 is quite a recognition, indeed.

Opened in October 2011, Casa Gangotena occupies a newly restored historic mansion showcasing eye-catching style, contemporary design, modern technologies, and quintessential comforts so appealing to travelers of discernment. There are 31 guest rooms through the hotel's three stories, a distinctive ground-floor restaurant presenting a modern take on traditional Andean and coastal ingredients, a cozy glass-roof patio laid out for relaxation, and a broad terrace on the top floor offering striking views of the comings and goings on the Plaza.

“Receiving such a prestigious accolade is fantastic,” says Fernando Delgado, Casa Gangotena's General Manager. “All of us at Casa Gangotena are extremely proud to be recognized as one of the best 50 new hotels in the world. This recognition renews our resolve to deliver the very best service to our guests.”

The mansion was home to several renowned Ecuadorian families during the late 19th century. Rebuilt following a fire in 1926, it was designated a “heritage property” soon after Quito was nominated as UNESCO's first World Heritage Site city in 1978.

Rates at Casa Gangotena start at $ $459, including buffet breakfast and Quito-style afternoon coffee snack, but excluding taxes.
