Chile's Tierra Hotels Announces New Lodge Opening in Chiloé
Tierra Hotels is acquiring the 12-room eco-design property as its third all-inclusive adventure destination in Chile.

“Tierra Chiloé is a wonderful addition to our growing family of design hotels in stunning locations,” stated Tierra Hotels Managing Director Miguel Purcell. “Many of our guests want to explore more of Chile, and Chiloé is an unforgettable island for its culture and wild landscapes.”

Tierra Chiloé, previously called Refugia, was named to Conde Nast Traveler’s Hot List™, Travel + Leisure’s IT List™ and the Fodor’s 100 in its opening year. It will be open from September through May. All-inclusive rates (including luxury accommodations, all meals, one all-day or two half-day guided daily excursions, as well as house wines and cocktails) begin at US$1,150 for two nights (per person based on double occupancy.)
Built with a sustainable geometric design, the immensity of the inland Pacific is on display from every angle of the lodge, including the smaller islands of the archipelago and Andes Mountains. The warm and inviting interiors, which are clad in hand-made textiles and woodcarvings, are the perfect environment to enjoy the exceptional hospitality Tierra offers. When it comes to food, Tierra Chiloé pulls from traditional dishes and locally sourced produce including succulent oysters, farm fresh eggs and vegetables as well as fish straight from the surrounding waters.

Excursions Tierra Chiloé offers guests a variety of adventurous excursions including trekking, horseback riding, and kayaking. Exploring Chiloé´s culture is also a big part of the hotel´s offerings; guests can explore the local markets, meet with the islanders, and visit the UNESCO World Heritage churches.

To gain a new vantage point than the one seen from land, guests can sail (weather permitting) on the hotel´s vessel the “Williche” through the numerous water channels that separate the islands of Chiloé. The boat is tailor-made out of wood by local artisans employing the traditional techniques of the island.

Location Located on a hilltop overlooking the inland sea, Tierra Chiloé encompasses more than 25 acres of countryside and beach on the banks of the Rilán peninsula, 10 miles from Chiloé’s capitol city of Castro. The hotel is surrounded by gentle green hills dotted with wildflowers, native trees and the Pullao wetland, home to dozens of endemic birds and marine species.
Chiloé is the second largest island in Chile. The Chiloé archipelago boasts endless interests for visitors who seek to immerse themselves in the island's timeless culture.
