Ellerman House Completes Renovation & Launches BAR ROC
The transformation includes the private guest rooms and bathrooms, the lounges and dining rooms. In addition, Ellerman House has launched the stylish new BAR ROC, designed by Adam Court of Cape Town-based OKHA Interiors.

The newly launched BAR ROC is quintessential Ellerman House, with a tailored interior that has a tangible sense of calm and luxury, boasting incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean. The relaxed, contemporary space conveys both classicism and modernity, featuring a terrazzo floor and bar counter, an expansive use of solid brass and austere, deep black finishes.

Nell Harris, the design advisor at Ellerman House says, "Adam and his team from OKHA have done an incredible job of complimenting the classic elegance of the house with this new and innovative contemporary space." The exacting design of BAR ROC allows each finish to express itself with clarity and integrity, accentuating the linear elegance of the space.

In addition to the opening of BAR ROC, Ellerman House has undergone a redesign, spear-headed by design advisor Nell Harris, along with Nica Design, who helped realize the vision of clean and fresh, but still luxurious. With the goal of modernizing the interiors as well as updating the functional elements of the room and bathroom facilities, Nell said, “Ellerman House is the Grande Dame of the Atlantic Seaboard. You don’t want to mess with her mood too much, but she did require some modernizing. Just a little lift here and there”.

In keeping with the strong South African identity of Ellerman House, bespoke furniture, fittings, textiles and artwork were sourced from local designers, design companies and artists. New servers from James Mudge were introduced in the living room and dining room. A coffee table from Anatomy Design, ceramics from Lisa Firer and fynbos sculptures by Nic Bladen can be found in the lounge. Bespoke pieces and interior collaborations from Skep, Gingerlee Interiors and Lanie van Reenen Interiors along with textiles from the Room 13 Collection and other local fabric houses can be seen throughout the hotel.
