Engaging Cultures Travel Offers Jordan Olive Harvest Tour
“Year after year we were reminded that Jordanians were the greatest asset to tourism development in Jordan. The most valuable places for our travelers are the places that connect them to people and culture. The olive harvest brought people together, foreigners and locals, for an annual community event.”

New for 2014, the Jordan Olive Harvest Tour was crafted to allow a longer stay in the host rural community where friends and local farmers are more directly benefited by a visit. Travelers connect deeper to the real Jordan in an area off the well-worn path of big bus tours. On this tour, guests get an exclusive, insider perspective from a rural community in Jordan by staying overnight in local homes, learning to cook a Jordanian meal, joining the seasonal olive harvest and visiting nearby tour sites such as Jerash and Umm Qais.

“It was fascinating to follow the process of making olive oil. We picked the olives, we gathered them up, and then went to the processing site to watch how the olives get pressed into oil and gathered into storage cans,” said Melinda, an Engaging Cultures' traveler. ”We enjoyed the communal experience of picking the olives along with the farmer and his family, and I really valued the opportunity for my 12 year old to see the process by which something we eat every day goes from tree to table.”

Engaging Cultures' 6 Day Jordan Olive Harvest Tour is priced from $739 USD per person. The 5 Day Olive Harvest Tour is priced from $639 USD per person. (Prices do not include flights.)
