Extraordinary Journeys Africa Launches Trips for Fashion Designers
Extraordinary Journeys Africa, specialists in luxury bespoke safaris to Africa, has partnered with The Supply Change, an organization connecting global fashion brands with artisans in developing countries that bring socially conscious fashion to the mainstream consumer, to create Fashion Designers without Borders: the first travel program for fashion professionals who are looking to produce profitable products with a positive impact. The goal is to create ambassadors within brands to advocate and build relationships with artisan groups in Kenya and around the world. EJ Africa's 7-night trip to Kenya for Fashion Designers without Borders departs the US on February 16, 2013 and is $5,000 per person, double which includes accommodations, most meals, workshops, driver and guide, park fees, and visits with artisans.*

Elizabeth Gordon, co-founder of Extraordinary Journeys, explains "Extraordinary Journeys is excited to partner with The Supply Change and offer a real chance to make a difference in Kenya. I was born in Kenya and have lived in Europe and the USA. The energy in Kenya is contagious. This is a fabulous opportunity for fashion professionals to be involved in a country where change is happening. We want people to feel excited and find ways to work together in the most beneficial way: for the artisans, the fashion professionals and the consumers."

Highlights:

• Meet with local artisans and visiting their workshops (tour of Kibera Artisans)
• Spend the afternoon with local leaders and meeting the local designers
• Meet with the Masai
• Nani Croze workshop at Kitengela Glass
• Visit to Game park, Giraffe Center & Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage
• Visit Naivasha CTC International

Participants will be able to meet the artisan groups behind Kenya's renaissance period, witness the creative energy and tackle topics such as, pros and cons of different social enterprise models, how to create partnerships, and balancing profitable business with good social initiatives. Extraordinary Journeys also provides participants with the option to add on a number of exciting extensions such as, gorilla-tracking in Rwanda or climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro.
