Fiji's Vomo Island Resort Launches Senikai Spa
Design by Portland, Oregon and West Vancouver, British Columbia based renowned architects Brian Cavanaugh and Mark Ritchie of Architecture Building Culture, the new spa features two double treatment rooms each with an outdoor shower. Volcanic rocks were gathered from Vomo Island and the resort's nearby desert island sister, Vomo Lai Lai to form a central wall within the spa interior, giving an organic feel and immediate sense of place.
“The design is inspired by the relationship of land and sea with each treatment room being set within lush botanical gardens and calming reflection pools that flow around and connect all the spaces of the spa,” said Cavanaugh. “It also embraces vernacular Fijian architecture. We have re-interpreted the familiar 'big roof' with contemporary geometry designed to capture cooling sea breezes and provide calm shaded interiors for the treatment rooms.”

The ethereal spa experience begins with a taste of Fiji's crystallized ginger and a chilled glass of tropical guava juice followed by a pampering foot ritual. Senikai uses Fiji's ‘Essence of Fiji' skincare line, which contains natural and therapeutic resources harvested by the local community thus providing totally chemical free treatments.

A range of new treatments was added including the Warm Shell Massage where sustainably, locally sourced tiger cowry shells are gently swept across the body. In South Pacific culture, cowry shells impart positive influence and energy therefore possessing a great de-stressing ability. During the treatment, when the shells are delicately placed over the guest's ears, the whisper of the Pacific Ocean travels through his/her body and soul while the therapist glides the shells smoothly over palms, arms, neck and shoulder area.

Another treatment parallels the natural body clock. Waking up with light is common on desert islands in Oceania, so the new Couple's Ultimate Sunrise Massage awakens senses by a therapeutic body massage with exclusive use of the entire spa at dawn.

The spa is open daily from 9am to 7pm. Appointments outside of these hours can also be arranged upon request. While the adults experience complete serenity and relaxation at the spa, the little ones can also enjoy treatment from the ‘KidZpa' menu at the Kids Village, the resort's comprehensive kid's program center.
