In partnership with Pete Bommarito of Bommarito Performance Systems, one of the top performance training coaches in the industry, and Dr. Matthew Cooper, president of USA Sports Therapy and one of the leaders in enzyme therapy, Fairmont Turnberry Isle has revolutionized the fitness and training programs offered by its Mobil Four Star Willow Stream Spa…creating the ultimate “one-stop-shop” for golf performance training, rehabilitation, and nutrition.

Both Bommarito (whose NFL Combine camps have attracted top athletes such as Tim Tebow, Jason Pierre-Paul and Matt Forte) and Dr. Cooper have trained and counseled elite athletes for years. In addition, Bommarito worked directly under David Donatucci, who is the director of fitness and performance for PGA of America, to provide programs for the David Leadbetter Golf Academy. By combining their talents and techniques at Fairmont Turnberry Isle, guests benefit from the most advanced sports performance program available…identical in every way to what their professional athlete clients receive.

This collaboration brings together skilled professionals from a wide range of disciplines, including:

• Bio-mechanical specialists
• Fitness trainers
• Nutritionists
• Rehabilitation therapists
• Muscle activation specialists

These individuals work as a team to develop short- and long-term solutions based upon each person’s goals. Clients are put through an in-depth bio-mechanical assessment to help the team create a completely customized, comprehensive training and nutrition program for each person. Upon completion, clients receive valuable take-home materials – detailed training, nutrition and rehabilitation plans, DVD, photographs, etc. – to help them follow the prescribed program at home. Clients also have access to continued counseling via phone or email if they so desire.

In addition to resort guests and private club members, the new facility provides training and counseling for Bommarito’s and Dr. Cooper’s clientele, which includes professional athletes. In fact, more than 50 NFL players and a number of NBA athletes already have visited the center prior to its official opening. However, Bommarito expects up to 70 percent of the center’s clients to play golf as their primary sport.

As part of the joint venture, Fairmont Turnberry Isle’s 3,650-square-foot Willow Stream Spa fitness center has undergone a complete $150,000 renovation with the addition of state-of-the-art fitness equipment including a Keiser Triple Trainer, golf swing analysis and biomechanical golf analysis that enables the Bommarito team to precisely analyze a client’s golf swing as well as the bio-mechanical factors that determine its characteristics.

Fairmont Turnberry Isle also is in the process of finalizing THEgolfacademy at Fairmont Turnberry Isle. This new addition, which will be capable of operating independently or in concert with the athletic performance facility, will provide golfers with an unparalleled game improvement experience. THEgolfacademy will feature four of the top golf instructors in North America, including: GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Teacher Bill Forrest; Gary Knapp, who has been voted “Teacher of the Year” by both the South Florida PGA and the Southern Nevada Chapter of the Southwest Section PGA; the resort’s resident pro and former PGA of America Teacher of the Year Hiro Suzuki, and acclaimed female golf instructor Christina Trammell.

Also in the works for Fairmont Turnberry Isle is a Romana Pilates studio (one of only a handful in the US) which will offer private sessions and classes taught by South Florida’s acclaimed instructor Karen Winselmann, who trained under Romana Kryzanowska (protégé of Joseph Pilates).
