From Opera to R&B, Badrutt's Palace Hotel Launches Concert Series
Running from December 8, 2012 – February 17, 2013, the series line-up includes dancers and musicians from Milan's famed Teatro alla Scala Academy, opera singers from the Mariinskiy Theatre in St. Petersburg, and will conclude with a performance by legendary soul singer Percy Sledge.

December 8, 2012 – I Promessi Sposi by Alessandro Manzoni

Massimiliano Finazzer Flory and the performers from Milan's Teatro alla Scala Academy set the tempo for the concert series with I Promessi Sposi. Alessandro Manzoni's novel, set in Milan during the Spanish occupation in 1628, influenced Italian literature in a similar way to Goethe's Faust in German-speaking countries. Performed in Badrutt's Palace Hotel's Embassy Ballroom, Massimiliano Finazzer Flory's interpretation of the masterpiece includes breathtakingly choreographed ballet and classical music by Giuseppe Verdi, Luciano Berio and Nino Rota. Milan's Teatro alla Scala's prima ballerina Gilda Gelati and string quartet enhance the performance onstage.

January 5, 2013 – La Soirée d'Opéra

La Soiréee d'Opéra presents world-renowned opera singers from the Mariinskiy Theatre in St. Petersburg. The soprano singer Marina Shaguch, tenor Evgeny Akimov, Mezzosoprano singer Elena Maximova and baritone Valery Murga present the most beautiful arias from Carmen, Madam Butterfly, La Traviata and others in the Embassy Ball Room at Badrutt's Palace Hotel.

February 17, 2013 – Percy Sledge

The soulful sounds of rhythm and blues will fill the halls of Badrutt's Palace Hotel when chart-topping singer Percy Sledge takes the stage. Sledge gained world fame with his first recording “When a Man Loves a Woman” in 1966. Further hits like “Warm and Tender Love,” “Take Time to Know Her,” and “Cover Me” reinforced Sledge's recognition over the following years. His performance is sure to be the highlight of the concert series.
