Gstaad - Authentically Glamourous
Gstaad is one of the largest ski resorts in Europe, perfect for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers. It is also an enchanting, year-round destination with fabulous shopping, wonderful restaurants, night life, golf, festivals, Polo and walking in the stunning natural mountain surroundings, with something for everyone, families, couples and friends.

At the intersection of two valleys in the German speaking Bernese Oberland region of the Swiss Alps, the locals still work to the seasons here, taking cattle to pasture in the summer, and gathering them in when the weather turns cold. At the last count, there were 7,000 cows, complete with tinkling bells, in the region. With no cars allowed in the village and all new building having to be chalet-style, Gstaad still has a truly traditional, charming feel.

Gstaad offers the longest skiing season in the Bernese Alps, running from late October to early May. The ‘Gstaad Super Ski Region' is made up of six areas and covers 220 kilometres of slopes with a great mix of blues, reds and blacks, including the neighbouring resorts of Saanen, Saanenmoser, St Stephan and Zweisimmen. It is also one of the top cross country ski areas in the Alps.

In summer, there are 300kms of walking tracks along idyllic valley trails or around beautiful Lake Lauenen. Food is on the agenda 365 days a year, with over 100 places to eat - from cosy raclette restaurants to gourmet options. Fifteen of Gstaad's restaurants are included in the Gault & Millau food guide, with 4 Michelin stars. Although famous for its iconic 5* star hotels, Gstaad has a brilliant range of accommodation – from B&B, friendly boutique to glamorous and grand. The resort is one of only nine certified wellness destinations in Switzerland. All this, and some of the best designer shopping in Switzerland.

Another year-round attraction is Gstaad's chic and exclusive calendar of events and festivals. From January's International Balloon Festival in Chateaux-d'Oex and the classical Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad in February, to the 61st Menuhin Festival Gstaad and the Swiss Open Tennis and Hublot Polo Gold Cup in the summer – there is always an added spark to a visit to Gstaad.
