Gstaad Palace Alpine Adventure Offers Mountain Hut Experience

Gstaad Palace Alpine Adventure Offers Mountain Hut Experience
The one-of-a-kind accommodation perched at more than 5,000 feet above the jaw-dropping beauty of Gstaad and Saanenland is just one of the enticements to look forward to with the hotel's Alpine Adventure package.

From the 5-star atmosphere of Gstaad Palace to the authentically rustic-yet-comfortable ambience of the Walig Hut, guests who book the Alpine Adventure package will feel uniquely pampered throughout their stay - a little bit town, a little bit country, and all of it something to remember.

Built in 1786 as a seasonal retreat for local farmers herding cattle, the Walig Hut is one of only a few of its kind remaining today in Switzerland. Bought by Gstaad Palace, it was completely restored but not completely modernized as to retain its rustic charm. The cozy hut offers stunning views of the Alps and is handsomely arrayed with a kitchen, separate dining area, and a bedroom with a large double bed. Solar-powered electricity provides lighting, while cold running water and traditional wood-burning fireplace assure you'll feel right at home.

The Bernese Alps are widely revered as a winter sports destination, of course, but they're a dream destination during summer, too. Walking and hiking trails, mountain biking and rock climbing, horseback riding, canoeing, river rafting, paragliding, and off-road driving and Jeep safaris are just some of the enticements nearby. The hotel has myriad possibilities to choose from as well, including an Olympic-sized outdoor pool, tennis courts, a full-service Spa and several dining and nightlife options.

The 3-day Alpine Adventure Getaway includes:
• 2 nights in a Double Deluxe Room at Gstaad Palace
• 1 night at the Walig Hut, with 3-course dinner included
• Swiss breakfast buffet and dinner daily at Le Grand Restaurant
• Complimentary use of the Palace Spa, with indoor swimming pool, saunas, steam baths, outdoor pool with Jacuzzi, Olympic outdoor pool, and onsite tennis and squash courts, too
• Cost: from CHF 1,450 (approx. $1,570) per person, including half board
• Package available June 17-September 13, 2012; subject to availability
