Il Salviatino, Historic Florence Villa Opens as Italy's Hottest 5-Star Retreat
The eagerly anticipated new luxury, all-suite hotel opened to the public on September 8th in the hillside town of Fiesole on the outskirts of Florence.

Il Salviatino has been restored to its former glory and transformed into a magnificent luxury villa retreat with a Euro 40 million renovation over two years. Following an invitation only soft opening for a select few, this astounding villa is finally open to the public.

Development of the 15th century palazzo was by Italian hotel development and management company MPg, working with renowned Italian architect Luciano Maria Colombo.

Official opening parties showcasing the magnificent transformation are scheduled for September 12 and 18.

The coveted location is just a few minutes drive from Florence, secluded in the beautiful Tuscan hills with spectacular views over one of the world's most famous city skylines.

Il Salviatino dates back to 1320 and was a palace for Florentine aristocracy.

No expense has been spared in recreating this historic masterpiece, now featuring a daring combination of contemporary design and luxury, while paying homage to the history and culture of 18th and 19th century Italy.

The villa features 61 luxury rooms and suites, all with breathtaking views, the finest Italian linens, rich buttery Florentine leathers and luxurious furnishings, complemented by an admired collection of Renaissance art in both the villa and gardens.

Treasures from the villa's historic heyday were unearthed by local artisans and incorporated into intricate networks of ancient garden pathways, while elaborate frescoes were unveiled from behind false ceilings. Centuries old mosaics are revived, and elegant glasshouses have emerged from the overgrown gardens.

Developers MPg, founded by veteran international hotelier Marcello Pigozzo, have a hospitality model based on absolute employee empowerment to provide a level of service based on initiative and anticipation of guests' needs. "They are committed to creating a hospitality experience unrivalled in Italy, with personalised service for each room," he said.

In ornate gardens the Devarana Spa, by Thailand's Dusit Thani Hotels, offers a holistic taste of the East. Deverana, meaning 'garden of heaven' in Thai Sanskrit, features a menu of ancient eastern practices by skilled Thai therapists.
