Hotel Tugu Lombok in Conde Nast Hot List of New Hotels

-

The prestigious Conde Nast Traveller "Hot List 2009" is out listing the 70 top new hotels operating around the world and Hotel Tugu Lombok is ranked #25 in the list, first one from Indonesia for this year. According to Conde Nast, the hotel seeks nothing less than to recreate the ancient Hindu kingdom of Majapahit which once ruled Lombok.

Like other Tugu properties, this youngest hotel in the group combining forgotten heritage with modern luxury effortlessly steals hearts. Bringing back to live the art, soul and romance of ancient Lombok time before the occupation of the Balinese, Hotel Tugu Lombok features beautiful artefacts and antiques with heavenly tropical landscape, as well as an architecture style that has been inspired by beautiful legends of the Mahabharata.

Located on pristine white sand beach of Sire, on the northwest coast of the island, the hotel is within walking distance of Golf Kosaido. Facing the open ocean and providing breathtaking views of Mount Rinjani, the lobby is dominated by a priceless centuries-old heritage building, colonial style suites with tall antique doors and furnishings, private plunge pools overlooking the sea, traditional style bungalows with a back to nature ambience reminiscent of village home, oversized fresh water infinity pool with Hindu artifacts, underground natural ponds mirroring ancient palatial sacred bathing pools.

With 19 suites including seven Bhagavat Gita suites, which will have their own private tropical gardens with lotus pond, two bathing areas with baths carved out of boulders and a private plunge pool directly overlooking the ocean and beachfront. Five other units will be traditional bungalows, inspired by native village houses, with unique but luxurious furnishings inside.

For golf enthusiasts, a masterfully designed golf course bordering Tugu Lombok offers a unique, challenging and world class experience for golfers of all levels. Meanwhile, 20 minutes on boat from Tugu Bali is The Gilis, three small coral-fringed islands, each with superb clear water, coral reefs and brilliantly colored fish.
