Friday 5/13 Houston Opens Underground Cistern for Visitors
This weekend the space that used to hold the city's drinking water will open to the public for tours to experience the eerie silence and hypnotic beauty of the chamber that is reminiscent of Istanbul's Basilica Cistern.

Soon this space will transform into yet another performing and visual arts venue, adding to Houston's already impressive arts scene. Artists and performers will make use of the unique light and sound qualities of the space to put on unforgettable spectacles. Buffalo Bayou Partnership received a $1.2 million grant from The Brown Foundation to make the cistern accessible to the public and up to code.
