Iconic Hotel La Mamounia Hosts Art Exhibit in Marrakech
Both deeply connected to Morocco, the artists each have a strong history and heritage with the country which is showcased through their work. Sir Winston Churchill had first visited Marrakech in 1935 and developed a lasting affection for the city, which he considered, “one of the loveliest spots in the whole world.” Born in Marrakech, El Glaoui has become one of Morocco's most significant artists, pushing ahead with his artistic path despite several objections.

The exhibition, Meetings in Marrakech: The Paintings of Hassan El Glaoui and Winston Churchill, will include eight paintings by Churchill and 17 by El Glaoui, most of which have yet to be unveiled in Morocco. This is an opportunity to celebrate the admiration these two artists have for the country. The free exhibition is open to the public from February 20 - March 3, 2014 from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm.
