Insider's Guide to The Hamptons

Insider's Guide to The Hamptons
With long stretches of white sand, sparkling blue water and the perfect summer climate, it's no surprise the Hamptons are continuously ranked among the best beaches in the world.

Each beach in the Hamptons has something different to offer. For instance, the water at the bay beaches is always much warmer than that of the Atlantic. The bay beaches are also a popular spot for windsurfing. In contrast, the main beaches, with slightly bigger surf, are better for body boarders, surfers or just swimming in the waves! Lastly, if there's one beach that epitomizes the swanky laid-back living of the Hamptons, it's Main Beach. Not too far from the bustling town of East Hampton, Main Beach has remained mostly the same throughout the decades, giving it a truly timeless feeling.

HOTEL PICKS

Maidstone Inn: This 19-room hotel is cool, eclectic, and definitely East Hampton's most esteemed and trendsetting hotel. Besides the fantastic rooms, service, and food, the hotel offers complimentary yoga sessions in the Buddha garden, “Yappy Hour” (50% off their dog menu and human cocktail menu), “Jazzie Brunches” every Sunday with live music and of course, beach parking permits!

The Reform Club: This hotel is pretty amazing. With a great location (close to the town of Amagansett and a short drive, walk or bike ride to the ocean), the size of the rooms or more like bungalows, quality of design, and level of amenities are very unique for the Hamptons.

East Hampton Point: Recently renovated last year, this hotel is right on the water, has every amenity of a full-service hotel, and rooms perfect for couples or large families. The restaurant is a local favorite, great for a nice Saturday night dinner or a fun Sunday with live music and the perfect view of the amazing Hamptons sunsets.

ACTIVITY PICKS

Stand Up Paddleboarding: not only is it fun and easy to learn, but it's also a great workout and an amazing way to get some sun!

Wine Tasting: Long Island is now home to some of the best vineyards in the country. One of our favorites is Wolffer Estate Winery, where you can attend Twilight Thursdays – a great Hamptons tradition! Find your favorite spot on the patio and enjoy wines by the glass, cheese and charcuterie plates, as live music drifts across the vineyard.

Shopping in East Hampton: with Intermix, Blue & Cream, John Varvatos, Big Drop, Theory, Devi Kroll, J.Crew, Scoop, Tory Burch and so much more, shopping is a great way to spend a late afternoon post-beach or a rainy day.

RESTAURANT PICKS

Nic & Toni's: there is not a table to be had during the summer when everyone scrambles to get their amazing brick oven cooked food. The scene is not too shabby either – it's a favorite hangout for every celeb in town.

Babettes: if you are not eating breakfast by the pool, you are eating at Babettes. Serving up amazing eggs, Woodstock French toast, and a vast fresh juice menu, it's simply the best!

The Lobster Roll Restaurant: open since 1965, everyone knows of this nostalgic road stop. The roof's sign has become a symbol of summer and who else offers the best rolls and a gluten-free menu?

The Players Club: new this season and already booked up through July, you can understand why with the classically great menu and one of the best lobster rolls on the East coast (and VERY reasonably priced). The best and most unique part of this restaurant is definitely their beer garden, complete with flat screen TVs, ping-pong tables, and of course a great variety of local beers.

NIGHTLIFE PICKS

SL East: where the fabulous people go to party… With amazing DJs or private performances, its inside/outside layout and intimate atmosphere always guarantees a great night.

South Pointe: this nightclub operates as almost two different venues – one outside, relaxed bar for people who want to enjoy the summer weather and one inside, with people dancing on the tables to big named DJs.

Sunset Beach: out on Shelter Island, which means you have to take a short ferry to get there (but definitely worth it), Sunset Beach is a fun restaurant, bar and even part hotel, located on the beach with amazing food and even better drinks. During July and August, you're provided with a scenic view of all the mega yachts.
