Luxury Travel Magazine interviews Giancarlo Porcu, the General Manager of the new Five-Star Luxury CastaDiva Resort on Lake Como, Italy.

What is unique about your hotel's location?

The beauty of an unmatched Lake which reveals its charm gradually leading the visitor from one wonder to another. Where in the past, royalty as well as writers, musicians, singers, poets and sublime artists have extolled, immortalized and drawn their inspiration from this special place. While flying over the lake in a helicopter, John Fitzgerald Kennedy exclaimed: "I don't think I've ever seen such a beautiful lake."

What authentic local experiences will guests have access to?

The Renaissance style villa of remarkable beauty dates back to the time when it was the residence of the opera singer Giuditta Pasta, the muse of Vincenzo Bellini. With the complicity of the lake landscape, the famous composer created here his two greatest works, 'Norma' and 'La Sonnambula' (i.e. 'the Sleepwalker'). Giuditta Pasta was the first performer of those opera pieces and the first 'CASTA DIVA' of the hymn to the moon composed by Bellini on the romantic shores of the Lake of Como.

Luxurious comfort finds its apex in the Spa, which is dedicated to the four elements – fire, earth, air and water; an exclusive thermal circuit preparing the senses for unforgettable moments. The setting of the wellness area reminds one of a vintage steamship, or relaxing on a crystal floor. Alternatively, you can get to the exclusive floating swimming pool through a spectacular passageway. An emotion for a very few privileged people!

Our 24h Concierge can organize some beautiful experiences for CastaDiva's guests, from an amazing boat tour around the most famous villas of the lake, to an exciting flight with the "Idrovolante" (seaplane) passing through the mountains and city around the lake. We also organize many leisure activities, for example, a day-trip in Milan, the Italian Fashion Capital, accompanied by a personal shopper.

Our Restaurants are managed by the Italian Chef Paolo Casagrande, who won 1 Michelin star last year under the guidance of the Spanish Chef Martin Berasategui. All the dishes are created by the imagination of Paolo that always is inquiring new ingredients following the best Italian tradition.

What is the best way for guests to "arrive in style" to your hotel?

I think by the lake, on a boat on a stunning sunny day … a real example of "dolce vita".
