Interview with the General Manager of Tiara Yaktsa Cannes

- Christine Gray

A conversation with Mr. Jöel Cardon, General Manager of the Tiara Yaktsa Cannes, one of the World's Best Hotels.

What is unique about your hotel's location?

I believe we have the best view on the Cote d'Azur. What you notice immediately, as soon as you arrive at Tiara Yaktsa is the amazing panoramic view over the Mediterranean sea, with the red rocks of the Esterel mountains plunging into it. Only a few kilometers away from Cannes, we offer a perfect relaxing cocoon for guests in love with charming hotels, away from the busy atmosphere of the city.

What authentic local experiences will guests have access to?

We are very lucky to be located in an area full of typical Provençal villages that guests can visit, as well as many other sites such as the city of Grasse with the international renowned perfumery, Mougins and its old historic village, Valbonne market, or the Arts Foundation Maeght located in Saint Paul de Vence. For people looking for the jet set life, you can head to Cannes' la Croisette luxury shops (20 minutes drive) or take a boat to Saint Tropez. Around the hotel, you can go for long walks or rides on a bike in the Esterel.

What are some amazing things that your Concierge can arrange?

Our Concierge team offers a wide range of services, from the typical car rental to private jet or plane tickets, and much more. Each guest is welcome in Tiara Yaktsa as in their own home and is offered a service "sur mesure" (a custom tailored experience).

Does your hotel have a philosophy?

Our first step is to make our guests feel like they are not in an ordinary hotel. We welcome them in a way so that they feel they are in a private home. Check-in takes place outside on the terrace with panoramic sea views and welcome refreshments. Guests can immediately relax and feel like they are on holiday.

What makes your hotel memorable and unforgettable?

When guests arrive they usually associate the mixture of Mediterranean and oriental decoration with the orange blossom aroma and the incredible views from the hotel. When they leave, they remember the personalized service provided during their stay, the quality of the food and the comfortable rooms.

What will guests rave about to their friends and family?

The quality of the renovation works to this original house from the 1920s, the oriental style associated with the Riviera landscapes and the kindness of the staff.

What is the atmosphere of your hotel? What types of guests does it attract?

The atmosphere of the hotel is definitely linked to its size. With just 21 bedrooms and suites, the Tiara Yaktsa looks like a "hotel particulier" (a mansion), exclusive and elegant. Our clients are mostly couples who come mainly from Europe, as well as the US, Russia and a few from the Middle East.

What makes your hotel a destination within itself?

The big plus is to be able to enjoy the busy life in Cannes while being in a quiet environment. Located on the red rocks route between Nice and Saint Tropez, our guests can, after returning from a day out visiting, enjoy the facilities offered by Tiara Yaktsa: plunge pool, day beds, spa treatments room Kanebo and By Terry, and most of all the beautiful sea view!

What is the signature dish in your hotel's restaurant?

Our Head Chef, Florent Benoit, works only with fresh local products. Our restaurant L'Or Bleu offers a menu based on Mediterranean flavors (grilled fish, calamari a la plancha, etc) with some asian and oriental influences.

What is the best way for guests to "arrive in style" to your hotel?

That would be by private jet to Cannes Mandelieu airport, then limousine transfer to Mandelieu La Napoule harbour to arrive at our hotel by private yacht.

Do you provide any welcoming or parting amenities to guests?

All our guests are welcomed with a drink on arrival and the mini bar is free of charge.
