Ireland's Sheen Falls Lodge Unveils Refurbishment

Ireland's Sheen Falls Lodge Unveils Refurbishment
Sheen Falls Lodge provides the ultimate in Irish hospitality, from its bespoke accommodations and fine dining, to its assortment of delightful activities. Following are just a few reasons to visit:

Full Refurbishment

Scheduled for completion in February 2017 is a full refurbishment, which began in 2013. “Warmth, comfortable luxury and elegance were our main focus,” said interior designer Hugo da Silva. “The hotel's origin as a hunting lodge set the tone, to provide a dynamic fusion of old and new, past and present to achieve a unique warm feeling with timeless quality.” With peaceful constant water of the Kenmare Bay and cascading Sheen Waterfalls nearby, the bedrooms were designed as a visual echo chamber of the external landscape, to bring its softness and serene ambiance inside, resulting in 66 supremely spacious bedrooms and suites.

Five Luxurious Thatched Cottages and Villas

Guests can enjoy a sanctuary in luxury accommodations, choosing from a pair of thatched-roof four-bedroomed Bay Villas on their own private grounds, the two-bedroom Marianne's Cottage with its stunning woodland views, the two-bedroom Little Hay Cottage with its water's-edge view and acre of private garden, and the two-bedroom Garden Cottage with views of Kenmare Bay.

Tantalizing Dining

Head Chef Philip Brazil was recently named Best Chef in Kerry at the 2016 Irish Restaurant Awards, and brings his own unique flair to modern Irish cooking, using home-smoked salmon caught on the estate and seafood and organic vegetables from suppliers just down the lane. Dining experiences include the elegant 2-AA Rosette The Falls, private dining in The Wine Cellar and Afternoon Tea in the Sun Lounge.

A Unique Country House Hotel

Situated between the world-famous Ring of Kerry and the lesser-known Ring of Beara, Sheen Falls Lodge lies in part of the “hidden Ireland” that is less commercialized. Enjoy the Irish countryside without the hustle and bustle.

Abundant Activities

The 300-acre Sheen Falls Estate offers an abundant selection of activities both onsite and off. Guests can visit Sheen Falls, enjoy salmon fishing on a private stretch of the River Sheen, or horseback ride through the dramatic countryside. Or they can walk the grounds, riverside walks, forest pathways and gardens. Complimentary bicycles are available.

Also on site, guests can luxuriate in the therapeutic Easanna Spa, engage in Falconry and a guided Hawk Walk, Clay Pigeon Shooting, tennis on a floodlit Savanna Tennis Court overlooking Kenmare Bay, or a guided Kayaking tour along Kenmare Bay and the Roughty River.

Sheen Falls Lodge is conveniently located for a plethora of offsite activities as well, including photography excursions, a seafari, sailing, mountain climbing, orienteering, boat trips, treasure hunts, chocolate-making and pottery lessons and several golf courses (parkland and championship link courses). A destination of note are the Skellig Islands. Lying eight miles off the coast, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was the location of a monastic settlement from the 6th century and is home to the 2nd largest Gannet bird colony in the world. Visits can be arranged by boat or helicopter.

Sheen Falls Lodge provides the ultimate in Irish hospitality tucked away in “hidden Ireland.”
