King Pacific Lodge Offers Wilderness Photography Workshop

King Pacific Lodge Offers Wilderness Photography Workshop
The floating wilderness lodge, located in British Columbia’s Great Bear Rainforest, is dedicated to sustainability and giving its guests a glimpse into a more meaningful world. Visionary Wild – a syndicate of photographic artists providing mentorship experiences to photographers – aims to capture the unparalleled beauty of the world’s last remaining tract of temperate rainforest and bring awareness to this sensitive environment.

Photographic masters at the weeklong workshop, Jack Dykinga and Daniel Beltrá, assisted by Justin Black, will lead participants on excursions to photograph wildlife in the pristine coastal rainforest landscape, and on the ocean, a thriving marine ecosystem. King Pacific Lodge’s expert guides, including First Nation’s Gitga’at wildlife guides, will lead the expeditions by boat and on foot into the untrammelled wilderness.

Jack Dykinga says: “The Great Bear Rainforest is pure enchantment. It's a place for the best chance of encounter with the legendary and extremely rare Kermode or "Spirit" bear. Breaching humpback whales, dense temperate rain-forested islands, and endangered Steller’s sea lions are just some of the photographic opportunities to excite the senses.”

In addition to spending a week being mentored by award-winning photographers, whose work combines fine art photography with documentary journalism, and are regularly published in National Geographic and Arizona Highways, participants will be offered the opportunity to exhibit their work at the G2 Gallery in Los Angeles.

King Pacific Lodge will serve as luxury “basecamp” for the workshop, with its gourmet dining, spa, and high service levels. Included in the package are the photography workshop, expert wildlife guiding, daily boat services, all meals, all beverages, and round-trips from Vancouver to the lodge. Photographers will also have the option to charter the helicopter based at the lodge for aerial shooting or to make outings to remote ridge tops overlooking mountainous forest and waterways.

The cost for the workshop with Visionary Wild at King Pacific Lodge is $14,995 US (including taxes) per person, based on double occupancy, for a seven-night stay.

King Pacific Lodge operates from June 3 to September 23, 2011. To learn more about joining the Photographic Workshop at King Pacific Lodge this summer, visit kingpacificlodge.com or call (604) 987-5452; toll-free (888) 592-5464.
