Kulm Hotel St. Moritz, Awarded Hotel of the Year 2018 by Switzerland's Gault & Millau
On August 28, the luxury hotel was awarded the prestigious title by Sascha Moeri, CEO of Carl F. Bucherer, and Urs Heller, chief editor of Gault & Millau Switzerland.

Kulm Hotel was praised by the judges for its exceptional culinary offerings, striking renovated rooms designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon, stunning location with breath-taking views of the Engadine Valley and its spectacular modern spa.

Gault & Millau, founded in 1969 by two French restaurant critics, is among the most influential restaurant guides internationally and places an emphasis on the cuisine offered by hotels when making its annual award selection. The property impressed this year’s panel for a variety of reasons including the Kulm Country Club’s legendary relaunch in January, which hosted an innovative pop-up restaurant concept featuring a stellar line-up of Michelin starred chefs including Daniel Humm, Nenad Mlinarevic and Mauro Colagreco.

For the winter season, more guest chefs are scheduled to cook at the Kulm Hotel including Germany’s two-starred Michelin chef Tim Raue, who specializes in Asian-inspired food. He will be stationed at the K – the hotel’s fine dining restaurant.

Recently appointed head chef, Mauro Taufer, oversees Kulm Hotel’s varied culinary concepts which include five restaurants such as Grand Restaurant, the Italian Pizzeria, Sunny Bar, Chesa al Parc, and the newly-opened Kulm Country Club. Furthermore, the hotel’s “Dine Around” program is operating in conjunction with sister property Grand Hotel Kronenhof, granting hotel guests access to three additional restaurants.

The ongoing investment in the Kulm Hotel was an important factor in choosing the property as “Hotel of the Year.” Over the last decade, the major renovations include the $12.5 million Kulm Spa St. Moritz refurbishment, the opening of the Lord Norman Foster designed Kulm Country Club and the refurbishment of the NeuKulm building with interiors by internationally renowned designer Pierre-Yves Rochon.
