La Jolla Concours d'Elegance Returns for Its 12th Year
The three day event, April 8th - 10th, is filled with VIP parties, ride-alongs, car collection viewings and the main event, the Concours d'Elegance, where the world's most exquisite cars will be judged against some of strictest standards.

15,000 - 20,000 people flock to the coastal, Southern California town of La Jolla to experience all this dreamy destination has to offer during this internationally acclaimed event. La Jolla, or "the jewel" of San Diego is the perfect destination for an event of this caliber, but let's not forget this event is NOT just for the car buffs.

WHERE TO STAY

The La Jolla Concours d'Elegance is held on the bluffs of the Pacific Ocean at La Jolla Cove, which happens to be within walking distance of several hotels, making it convenient to get from party to beauty sleep without delay.

The La Valencia Hotel, [https://www.lavalencia.com/] locally known as "The Pink Lady", overlooks La Jolla Cove and is directly across the street from the entrance of the event and the Aston Martin San Diego Exclusive Saturday Evening VIP Reception. The hotel boasts an incredible lobby bar with weekend live music and a renowned chef, James Montejano.

The Grande Colonial [https://thegrandecolonial.com/] located just steps from the sand is a breathtaking location with commanding vistas of the Pacific Ocean as far as the eye can see. With 93 guest rooms, some of which are outfitted with full kitchens, this classic hotel has the feel of an intimate inn. If time permits, take in a tasting menu at Nine-Ten where Chef Jason Knibb will surprise and tantalize your taste buds with his garden to table freshness and exquisite flavor combinations.

If you don't mind a short drive of five minutes, the Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa [https://estancialajolla.com/] is just up the hill on the northern end of La Jolla. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, a luxurious spa, and within walking distance to a lovely hike from the glider port and through a maze of incredible architecture at the Salk Institute, this newer hotel provides spacious rooms, a classic California rustic chic design and plenty of space to detox from the rigors of daily life. Be sure to check out Estancia's new restaurant, Mustangs and Burros, for delicious cuisine and inspired cocktails. They do provide a shuttle to downtown La Jolla for your convenience.

If you prefer to have a kitchen and perhaps two-bedroom, deluxe suites overlooking the festivities, The La Jolla Cove Suites [https://lajollacove.com/] are the fit for you. They have an array of accommodations to suit families or couples traveling together who want to be at the foot of the Concours. Watch the transformation of the event from start to finish from their oceanfront suites.

WHERE TO EAT

La Jolla has talent. Local culinary talent has flocked to this beautiful seaside town to strut their stuff. The most difficult choice is deciding where and if you have room in your skinny jeans to enjoy more. Besides the aforementioned chefs at the local hotels, you will be hard pressed to be lacking any type of cuisine you crave.

Visitors to San Diego ALWAYS want to try the famed Mexican food but this is a tough decision in La Jolla. You have classic surfer taco shops like The Taco Stand on Pearl Street, the Bahia in the Bird Rock neighborhood, or Puesto's rendition of bright, casual Mexico City style taco shops and then you have Chef Trey Foshee's upscale Galaxy Taco.

All three days of events are packed with excitement over the cars but also with some of San Diego's best restaurants serving tantalizing bites.

SHOPPING

For shopaholics, shopping in La Jolla is divine. Steps from the hotels are blocks of boutiques waiting to exhibit retails most unnecessary, must-have luxuries.

CJ Charles Jewelers has been a La Jolla staple of custom-designed and estate jewelry for four decades on Prospect Avenue. Take a stroll down the quaint streets and peruse the women's collections of Ralph Lauren, Sigi's, Rica or the Ascot Shop for dashing menswear.

If it's art that strikes your fancy, the Museum of Contemporary Art is in the center of it all but there is no shortage of galleries on the prospect strip either if you are in the market for a meaningful souvenir. Las Manos del Artesano, Madison Gallery and Martin Lawrence Galleries are great places to start.

LET THE KIDS RUN WILD

The heart of La Jolla is in it's family-friendly charm. The Recreation Center has three separate playground areas, differentiated by age and activity ability. Kids can check out hand balls, basketballs and other fun play gear.

The Scripps Aquarium, just a five minute drive from the town's center, overlooks the coastline and never fails to amaze and captivate kids of all ages! Once Sunday rolls around, children under the age of 14 can attend the La Jolla Concours d'Elegance for FREE. There is even a special children's area for them to explore and make it a memorable weekend too.

The La Jolla Concours d'Elegance is a destination event filled with activities for car enthusiasts and much more. Can three days really be enough to fully experience this little gem of a town?
