Lake Placid Lodge Celebrates the Season

Lake Placid Lodge Celebrates the Season
Kicking off the festivities, guests can toast the holidays upon arrival before settling into one of the main lodge suites or lakeside cabins – each adorned with private stone fireplaces, polished wood, a hand-built, cloud-soft bed and breathtaking views of the wilderness just steps away.

A winter escape to the Lodge includes a Christmas Tree lighting, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, a guided hike by naturalist Ed Kanze, and a Lodge-hosted reception with live entertainment on Christmas Eve, New Years Eve and New Years Day. Additionally, the Lodge team is thrilled to organize activities unique to the area. The hotel can organize a tour of the Lake Placid Olympics region where guests can see and participate in the Winter Games’ venues including bobsledding and the luge. For added Olympic charm, guests can also skate the oval rink, on which Eric Heidenn won five gold medals in the 1980 Winter Olympics.

Guests can take in the Lodge’s famous Christmas decorations, setting the stage for an unforgettable holiday with nearly 100 decorated Christmas trees displayed throughout the property. Designed by local artisans, the Lodge exudes a feeling of luxurious comfort with majestic views of Lake Placid and its surrounding mountain ranges.

To complete the holiday experience, Lake Placid Lodge’s intimate, fire-lit restaurant, Artisans, will offer a special holiday menu highlighting seasonal ingredients, including Roasted Butternut Soup with Vanilla Bean, South Meadow Farm’s Maple Syrup and Crème Fraiche; Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras, Toasted Caramel Apple Bread, Port Wine & Veal Reduction; Braised Lamb Osso Bucco with Roasted Root Vegetables, Kamut Grains and Cabernet Jus; and an “Opera Cake” made of Almond Sponge Cake, 70% Chocolate Glaze and Espresso Foam.
