Le Meridien Bora Bora Unveils New Ecological Center
The resort has unveiled the new onsite educational facility designed to raise awareness of the protection and sustainable management of the region's underwater natural wonders while increasing local populations, including the endangered sea turtles that have long been a focus of the property's efforts. To celebrate the launch of the center, the resort is offering a special "Green Package" for a limited time.

The new Ecological Center offers guests, visitors and locals an experience that complements the resort's renowned Turtle Conservation program. There is plenty to see, touch and do:

• Submarine Observatory - Get a unique point of view of sea turtles, fish and colorful coral through eye-popping perspectives on the resort lagoon. Stop by the observatory to watch sea turtles being fed daily at 10:30am.

• Educational Aquariums - Aid reef restoration while discovering the hidden treasures of coral in aquariums created in partnership with Bora Eco Fish, a local outfit specializing in ecological and diversified aquaculture. The wide-ranging aquarium collection includes post-larvae reef fish, invertebrates and coral, and offers guests the opportunity to become "godparents" of baby coral as part of the resort's reef restoration program.

• Touch Pool - An interactive pool for hands-on learning and appreciation, with crabs, hermit crabs, sea cucumbers, shells, sea stars and more for adults and children to touch.

• Museum - An onshore gallery of aquatic wonders including whale vertebra, shark jaws, seashells, sculptures, videos and other renditions of sea life swimming offshore. Already impressive, the collection will continue to grow.

• Laboratory - Guests can learn how the resort's onsite marine biologists care for the turtles in the new laboratory.

• Turtle Conservation - The new Ecological Center complements the resort's Turtle Conservation program. Now 10 years old, the onsite Bora Bora Turtle Center aids the protection of sea turtles in the South Pacific by nurturing primarily sea and green turtles in the resort lagoon before releasing them into the wild. Guests and locals have long been involved in the project, with about 3,000 children visiting the Turtle Center since its creation.

Boumediene Ouadjed, General Manager of Le Méridien Bora Bora, said, "It is so important to protect and manage the biodiversity of the South Seas. Our resort has long been a player in those efforts, and the new Ecological Center will go further than ever toward getting guests and island locals involved."
