Le Meurice in Paris Unveils Renovated Presidential Suites
Located across from the Tuileries Gardens on rue de Rivoli, Le Meurice has unveiled newly renovated Presidential Suites and Dali apartment, giving discerning guests even more reason to experience this iconic Dorchester Collection hotel. Celebrated designer Charles Jouffre modernized and refreshed the suites, while maintaining its historic and legendary design once preferred by Salvador Dali, who resided at Le Meurice for at least one month each year throughout the 1960s to the 1980s.

At a combined 4,574 square-feet, each of the five Presidential Suites is adorned in rich red or Le Meurice's signature green, with views overlooking the Tuileries Gardens. Complete with Versailles parquet floors laid with wool and silk rugs from Galerie Saint-Simon, the suites feature white marble fireplaces and period furniture, including conserved and restored pieces from Louis XVI cabinets to newly re-gilded cabriolet chairs. Crystal chandeliers hang from the ceilings, while walls are hung with 19th century paintings. In the Dalí apartment, where Salvador Dali once resided and located in one of the Presidential Suites, Jouffre preserved the history of the apartment with minimal updates, but placed exceptional items of furniture, suitably opulent window treatments, historic moldings accented with muted gold, and sumptuous fabrics and harmonious shades.

The renovations are the latest work by Jouffre at Le Meurice. Impressed with his vision of sumptuous drapes and hangings for the Grand Foyer at the Opera Garnier, General Manager Franka Holtmann hired the Lyon-based upholsterer in December 2008 to imagine new and warmer interiors for the guest rooms of Le Meurice. Jouffre brought a new touch to the specificities of the palace hotel, dressing up rooms with 18th century elegance with stylishly reimagined classic furniture, light colors lifted with bright accent tones, and noble and traditional materials.

"With his remarkable vision, Charles Jouffre has transformed our premier rooms into one-of-a-kind environments with unique aesthetic signature to Le Meurice," said General Manager Holtmann. "We are thrilled to have Charles Jouffre create one of the best accommodations and spectacular selection of suites available in Paris and continue to create exclusive experiences for our guests."

Rates of Presidential Suites are available upon request. Rates at Le Meurice start from €580 (approximately $757 USD) in a Classic Room. For more information or to make reservations, please call (800) 650-1842, or visit lemeurice.com
