Learn How To Cook Cretan Style at Domes of Elounda
Domes of Elounda's Autograph Collection has raised the bar in 2016 with their new range of authentic experience packages enabling guests to go beyond the property's exceptional service, stunning architecture and enchanting setting and expand their horizons in ways they never expected.

This year Domes of Elounda is offering its guests the ultimate authentic and local experience where they can explore first-hand the traditional techniques and ingredients for making delicious Cretan dishes and pastries. This experience will take guests to the traditional community of Kritsa on the Lassithi mountains, one of the oldest and most picturesque villages in Crete. Surrounded by olive groves producing award winning olive oil, the village is built amphitheatrically on the side of a hill and offers a slow pace of life. Dating back to the middle-ages Kritsa is thought to have been the largest township in Crete, whilst today old customs and traditions of the island are kept alive.

From Domes of Elounda guests are taken to Kritsa where they will be greeted by members of the village women's cooperative – these ladies are the drive behind keeping old traditions alive. Here the experience will take you through a journey of learning about the processes of traditional Cretan pie-making and you will have the chance to make your own pie based on the fresh ingredients available at the time of visit. This Cretan experience then takes guests to Panagia Kera, a Byzantine Church, completely unique in technique and importance. The church dates back to the 13th Century and is home to beautiful frescoes from the 14th Century. From here it's time to replenish with a traditional Cretan meal at a local tavern ‘Paradeisos' meaning ‘paradise', where you will enjoy local delicacies ranging from eggs with 'staka' (a roux dish made from goat's milk) to dakos and lamb with stamnagathi (a wild green that has become popular in top-end restaurants).

This experience is available for all guests at Domes of Elounda, which is located in one of the loveliest parts of Greece, the cosmopolitan Elounda; a long-time A-list secret location, favored by host of famous faces such as Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt and Rhianna. Boasting a collection of distinctively designed suites and villas, Domes of Elounda is a delightful retreat with breath-taking, 360 degree views of cerulean blue. Only 3 hours and 55 minutes out of Gatwick, nearby Heraklion airport makes this an utterly perfect escape.

Prices for the Cretan cooking experience start from £92 per adult and £46 for children aged 4-12 years.
