Learn Yoga and Spot Lions in Botswana on the Ultimate Digital Detox

Vacationers can now experience the ultimate digital detox in Botswana with a brand new trip that gives them the opportunity to practice yoga and see the varied wildlife of Africa as they escape from their busy daily lives to unwind in new surroundings.

The Safari and Serenity Yoga Retreat encourages guests to switch off their phones, ignore their work emails and completely relax in one of the most naturally beautiful places on Earth. The new trip will take travellers back to basics as they experience the tranquillity of the African bush whilst practicing yoga and relaxation techniques. They will also be able to get back to nature as they discover the wildlife of Botswana.

The 7-night retreat will take place for the first time in November where holidaymakers will stay in Muchenje Safari Lodge in a secluded spot in the Chobe National Park. The retreat promotes calm and the ability to connect with nature in a tranquil and stress-free environment. Based on the western side of the national park and perched on an escarpment looking down across the Chobe River the trip will marry up the two experiences of yoga and safari to provide a spiritual experience for everyone.

Guests will spend their mornings and evenings practicing a range of yoga techniques from a select group of extraordinary yoga teachers. There’s yoga to suit every traveller from experts to beginners and the techniques have been chosen from the classic systems of hatha yoga, raja yoga and mantra yoga. These include Shatkarma, Asana, Pranayama, Yoga Nidra, Mantra and meditation.

Each yoga technique aims to promote health and wellbeing and gives guests the powerful tools to improve their quality of life, providing them with a skill that they can take home. Some lessons will help to practice deep relaxation and sensory withdrawal while others will include specific exercises and postures that realign the body’s energies to make it strong and supple.

The classes will be led by Koo Stark and her experienced team of yoga teachers. Koo is a 2nd generation yogini who has practiced yoga all her life. Since she was a child Koo has been learning yoga and meditation and brings a wealth of experience of the art. She will not only teach guests powerful poses but also teach how to unwind from their busy daily lives.
As well as practicing yoga on this restorative retreat, travellers will also have the opportunity to see the beautiful wildlife of Africa. Each day between yoga sessions guests will have plenty of chances to enjoy a safari whether this be in the afternoon, during sundown or on an all-day boat cruise. The schedule will be tailor-made by an experienced guide on arrival to ensure guests make the most of their time at the retreat.

No doubt each guest will leave the retreat feeling entirely rebooted and ready to take on their everyday life once more with a refreshed outlook. The Safari and Serenity Yoga retreat will not fail to provide the ideal environment to unwind on a digital detox but will also explore the incredible wildlife of Botswana.

The Safari and Serenity Yoga Retreat starts at £3,600pp based on two guests sharing, including 7 nights’ accommodation, all yoga classes and equipment, all meals and drinks, and all safari experiences.
