Maine lobster may be the king of seafood in the States, but the Anegada lobster is queen of the Caribbean – and no place is celebrating her reign like Rosewood Little Dix Bay.

The beachfront resort on Virgin Gorda, B.V.I., ranked #1 in the Caribbean by Harper's Hideaway Report in 2008, has launched a season-long series of monthly Lobster Festivals for guests to savor the succulence of the Caribbean Lobster as they follow their dinner from dockside to plate. Strap on your bibs and sharpen your seafood forks – it's going to be a mouthful!

Often swimming in the shadows of their broad-clawed, "true lobster" brethren to the north, Anegada lobsters are spiny and pincer-free, with long, thick, beautiful antennae. Indigenous to warm waters throughout the region, the lobsters are particularly prolific around Anegada, the northernmost of the British Virgin Islands, hence their name. With their capacity to grow to great size, in the right hands, Anegadas are considered a Caribbean delicacy.

Rosewood Little Dix Bay's Lobster Festivals will unfold one weekend each month from January through July. Each month, the tribute gets started with a meet and greet with local lobstermen returning with tail-flapping catch to the private half mile beach at Little Dix Bay. Guests will have the opportunity to select their own lobster, which will be promptly tagged by resort culinary staff and shuttled back to the kitchen for dinner. Guests can then order up their chosen crustaceans during their stay, and Executive Chef Hemant Dadlani will see that it's cooked to mouth-watering perfection.

Of course, what's a Lobster Festival without…more lobster? Chef Hemant will reveal just how enticing Anegadas can be with a sprawling lobster display at the Pavilion Restaurant as well as a special tasting menu featuring eight distinctive dishes prepared both hot and cold. Accompanied by a glass of something sassy from the Pavilion wine list and open-air sea views, each Lobster Festival will be a feast to remember.
