Luxury Hotel Brand, Mandarin Oriental Gains 3 New Celebrity Fans
These include American actor, director, screenwriter and producer Kevin Spacey; French footwear designer Christian Louboutin; and French actress Sophie Marceau, who regularly stay at Mandarin Oriental hotels.

Kevin Spacey

An award-winning American actor, director, screenwriter and producer, Kevin Spacey gained critical acclaim in the early 1980s, winning his first Academy Award for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ in The Usual Suspects. This was followed by a ‘Best Actor’ Academy Award win for American Beauty. Reflecting his true passion for the stage, he chose to be photographed in his dressing room at the Old Vic, and his charity of choice is The Kevin Spacey Foundation that supports young actors, writers, directors and producers.

Christian Louboutin

In their twenty years of existence, French footwear designer Christian Louboutin’s enchanting shoes have firmly stamped their signature on an era, circulating across the world from one famous pair of legs to another. Instantly recognizable by the trademark red soles, his creations combine visions of French glamour with imaginative craftsmanship. Louboutin was photographed in Paris, and was delighted to introduce Mandarin Oriental’s campaign photographer, Mary McCartney to some of his favourite places. These included his atelier on rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau (not far from Mandarin Oriental, Paris), the Galerie Véro Dodat (which houses his women’s shop and is the location for his first menswear shop), Passage Potier and rue de Montpensier. A short video of Louboutin will feature in Mandarin Oriental’s new I-Pad advertising campaign which will launch this September in the Asian editions of the Financial Times, The Economist and The Wall Street Journal.

Sophie Marceau

Talented French actress Sophie Marceau has appeared in 38 films. During her teens, Marceau achieved popularity with her debut films La Boum and La Boum 2, for which she received a César Award for ‘Most Promising Actress’. In addition to her French-language films, she has worked in international films such as Braveheart, and played villain and femme fatale, Elektra Kin, in the Bond movie, The World is Not Enough. Marceau was photographed in a suite at a Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong during a recent visit to the city.

The campaign, which has been running for 10 years, continues to increase Mandarin Oriental’s brand awareness globally, and simply and elegantly connects Mandarin Oriental’s well-recognized symbol - the fan - with international celebrities who regularly stay at the Group’s hotels. Earlier additions to the campaign were photographed by celebrated photographer and British royal, Lord Patrick Lichfield who sadly passed away in 2005. The Group appointed renowned portrait photographer Mary McCartney in 2006 who photographs each celebrity in a location of their choice which, for them, best represents a feeling of well-being. In appreciation of their support, the Group makes a donation to each celebrity’s individual choice of charity.
