Madrid's emblematic Hotel Villa Magna, will launch its first Mexican Gastronomy Week next week October 16-20, 2012 and has flown in celebrated Chef Daniel Ovadía all the way from Mexico to concoct sumptuous traditional menus exclusively for Restaurante Villa Magna.
This blending and celebration of cultures will guide guests through a journey of Mexico's different regions and the menus have even been deemed "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO.
Lunch will be served from 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and dinner from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., including such savory dishes as black bean soup with cured ham, rice balls and avocado seasoned with epazote, a Mexican spice; Lobster taco filled with black beans, rice, Chipotle cream and epazote; and a pressed Chicharrón gordita, fresh salsa verde and queso fresco.
Villa Magna provides four exciting gastronomic experiences for guests: The Magnum Bar, offering an array of cocktails and light bites served in an inviting art deco setting; the Restaurante Villa Magna, offering a revival of the classic cuisine with a twist of the 21st century; The Lounge, overlooking Paseo de la Castellana and the ideal spot for a more informal dining experience, offers a variety of light snacks and drinks; and, Tse Yang, Madrid’s most luxurious Chinese restaurant, where the exotic flavors of the best Cantonese cuisine in the city is found.
At age 28, Daniel Ovadía is one of the most recognized chefs in Mexico. He is the owner of first class "Paxia" restaurants in Mexico City that are keen on improving the Mexican cuisine that focus highly on details, by combining traditional flavors and ingredients with innovative gastronomical techniques. The Paxia restaurants located in San Ángel and Santa Fe have received three Star Diamond Awards between 2008 and 2011, and are recognized by several publications as some of the best restaurants, not only in Mexico City, but in the country.
