Mandarin Oriental Paris' Restaurant Awarded 2 Michelin Stars
"I am delighted to celebrate this fantastic culinary award with Thierry Marx and his team," says Philippe Leboeuf, General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Paris. “To receive two stars from Michelin is an impressive achievement, particularly only six months after opening. Thierry Marx possesses great humility, energy and style and this accolade will serve to motivate us further in our pursuit of culinary excellence,” he added.

In celebration of this tribute, Mandarin Oriental, Paris has created a dining package that is available until 15 May 2012. The package includes luxurious accommodation for two in a deluxe room or suite with breakfast, and a specially created dinner tasting menu at Sur Mesure by Thierry Marx. Prices begin at £1,220 for a Deluxe Room and £1,868 for a Superior Suite. Bookings can be made via the website at www.mandarinoriental.com.

Intended as an intimate cocoon for diners, the gourmet restaurant on the hotel's ground floor pays stunning tribute to Parisian haute couture. Designers Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku have used white throughout, drawing guests into a unique atmosphere that is heightened by the white fabric drapes on the walls and ceiling. A light well in the centre of the restaurant frames an elliptical and ethereal crystal that appears to float in mid-air.

The design forms the perfect backdrop for a choice of menus comprised of six or nine dishes providing a culinary voyage guided by ingredients and the seasons. The menu pays particular attention to shapes and colours, textures and temperatures, and is an invitation to experience new sensations.

With his creative and innovative cooking, Thierry Marx not only draws inspiration from his native France but also from his extensive travels through Asia-Pacific. His career has taken him to Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand and Japan. Using the finest and freshest ingredients, and offering the avant-garde textures and flavours for which he is renowned, Marx has been delighting diners since opening with his unique style and expertise at Mandarin Oriental, Paris's signature restaurant. Chef Marx also oversees the hotel's additional restaurants and bars in his role as Culinary Director.
