Mandarin Oriental to Open Paris Hotel This Summer

-

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is set to open its Paris property this summer at 247/251 Rue Saint-Honoré near the Garnier Opera, the Louvre and the Tuileries Gardens.

The original, magnificent Art Deco façade of this luxury hotel has been beautifully complemented by contemporary interiors. The hotel features taupe silk cushions and embroidered taffeta in shades of orange, fuchsia and plum; sleek contemporary furniture; and fine materials such as dark wood, pale lacquer and chrome. The hotel has 99 rooms and 39 suites, decorated by interior designer Sybille de Margerie at SM Design, and featuring the latest in in-room technology. The room design combines Parisian sophistication with Art Deco details and oriental touches. An inner courtyard will offer outdoor dining, with a choice of restaurants and bars under Executive Chef and Culinary Director Thierry Marx.

Rooms showcase photography by American photographer Man Ray, including a reproduction on velvet of his famed photograph, “The Kiss,” in each bedroom alcove, and appearing again in a negative, mirror effect on the headboard. The bathrooms, in glass, wood, white marble and mosaic, feature basins that are ridged with leather and finished with bold, hammered bronze buttons for a couture feel. The hotel’s Presidential Suite will offer private dining, terraces and a view over the city. In all suites, the white marble and mother-of-pearl bathroom opens onto the bedroom, where Man Ray’s photograph “Masks” has been reproduced on velvet, and set into an alcove. Each suite also features the work of Ali Mahdavi, a young Iranian photographer, chosen specifically by Sybille de Margerie.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is the owner and operator of 42 hotels representing over 10,000 rooms in 27 countries, with 18 hotels in Asia, 12 in the Americas and 12 in Europe, Middle East and North Africa. In addition, the group operates, or has under development, 13 Residences at Mandarin Oriental, connected to the Group’s properties. For more information, visit www.mandarinoriental.com.
