According to Brooks, whose new lecture ‘Are You Sleeping?' begins on November 1, 2013, sleep is one of the basic building blocks of good health, and sleep deprivation negatively impacts aging, immune system function, metabolism, reaction time and memory. In ‘Are You Sleeping?', guests learn how their daily routines contribute to sleep patterns and how to create a plan to get a better night's sleep. In the lecture, Brooks notes that the CDC estimates about 70 million Americans suffer from sleep issues and that a key factor in human sleep cycle regulation is exposure to light or to darkness. Scientists have found that reducing exposure to blue light prior to bed supports the body's natural circadian rhythm and help you get to sleep more easily and quickly.
