Rum Tasting Experience on Sunday Nights

Vacationers on Nevis are staying at the quintessential place to discover the art and history of rum-making. The resort's Rum Tasting Experience in its historic 300-year-old Mill Priveé – the original sugar mill of the plantation converted to a unique private dining venue – is held on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. Mark Theron has resided in the Caribbean for the last 26 years and has been a rum devotée for over 30 years. He conducts these one and a half-hour sessions, where guests savor a flight of six fine rums, including some rare vintages and even a French rum variety. Tastes are accompanied by homemade chocolate created from 75% Dominican chocolate topped with sea salt. Mark shares his extensive knowledge of the history of rum, its production, and talks about the diverse nature of this exquisite spirit. Sessions are limited to 10 people. The cost is $65 per person; $95 including a two-course dinner at Montpelier's Indigo restaurant. To reserve, call 869-469-3462.
