Napa Valley's Auberge du Soleil New Rooms Inspired by Biarritz

Napa Valley's Auberge du Soleil New Rooms Inspired by Biarritz
Auberge du Soleil, Napa Valley’s most awarded hotel, has just revealed the next milestone in its design evolution: Maison Biarritz, a collection of four chicly redesigned guest rooms.

An encore to the recently unveiled Maison Saint-Tropez, the new design takes the Auberge’s luxuriously sexy spirit to a new level with dramatic features that maximize the hotel’s breathtaking hilltop views and create an atmosphere of quintessential romance.

“We’ve taken a more contemporary approach to romance that is very dramatic and introduced a fresh new spirit to Auberge du Soleil,” said George Goeggel, Managing Partner, Auberge du Soleil. “With private terraces, oversized sculptural bathtubs and custom-designed beds, our new rooms are earthy, indulgent and – above all – seductive.”

Inspired by the laid-back luxury of France’s famed seaside resort, Maison Biarritz welcomes guests with a sun-drenched palette of sandy beiges, creamy limestone, shades of pale terra cotta mixed with the warmth of bleached and cerused woods. Traditional French doors have been replaced with statement-making floor-to-ceiling windows that graphically frame the Auberge’s iconic Napa Valley views and infuse the rooms with light.

Auberge du Soleil’s interior designer, Suzanne Tucker of Tucker & Marks, Inc., San Francisco, designed the rooms with a dramatic California King bed as the focal point. With a hand-carved headboard of mirrored fretwork that extends to the ceiling and an oversized organic mattress dressed in the Corsica and Saint-Tropez textiles that Tucker designed exclusively for Auberge du Soleil, the bed adds an exotic element to the room. Rich furnishings and accessories from Janus et Cie, Circa Lighting, Arteriors and Roost, among others, create a tastefully “collected” space intended to resonate with the Auberge’s well-traveled guests.

“My updated design retains the spirit of the Auberge’s hillside allure, the private, romantic ambience and brings the interiors forward with a more contemporary approach,” said Tucker. “We are after timeless qualities here, and this thoughtful approach has felt very natural and organic, just as the Auberge and its surroundings are.”

In Maison Biarritz’s spa-like bathrooms, skylights flood interiors with natural light, highlighting oversized sculptural soaking tubs, open-air showers and heated limestone floors. Cream-colored limestone, pale honed marble, artisan bath amenities and Waterworks furnishings create a multi-sensory environment that seduces one to soak.

All guest rooms are fully outfitted with high-definition Samsung televisions, Blue Ray DVD players, Bose Bluetooth audio players and high-speed wireless Internet to keep guests effortlessly and flawlessly connected. In the custom of Auberge du Soleil, rooms include a wealth of special touches, from complimentary yoga mats to house-made refreshments, complimentary stocked minibar and a welcome bottle of local wine.

Inspired by the rustic sophistication of the South of France, Auberge du Soleil began as the vision of French restaurateur Claude Rouas. Perched on the slope of Rutherford Hill overlooking Napa Valley, the Auberge first opened as a destination restaurant. Guest accommodations were added in1985, a collection of 50 sun- and earth-toned maisons, each featuring spacious private terraces and panoramic views of olive groves and the vine-studded valley. A design icon from the moment it opened, the Auberge featured original interiors by influential American designer Michael Taylor. All guest rooms and public spaces have since been extensively updated by Tucker, Taylor’s former protégée.

Auberge du Soleil’s unparalleled style is one reason why the hotel continues to receive the highest accolades from the hospitality industry, discerning guests and the media. Perennially ranked one of the World’s Best Hotels by Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler and other influential publications, Auberge du Soleil is the only Forbes Five Star hotel in Napa Valley.

Auberge du Soleil is a member of Relais & Châteaux, the most prestigious collection of small luxury hotels and restaurants in the world.
