The first luxury hotel developed in collaboration with the renowned Italian luxury fashion dynasty, Missoni, opened yesterday in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Hotel Missoni Edinburgh represents a new standard of design hotel that combines the style of the iconic fashion and interiors label with the expertise of one of the world's leading hotel operators. With a prime location on the corner of George IV Bridge and the Royal Mile, Hotel Missoni Edinburgh brings the timeless style, colour and glamour of Missoni to life for today's design conscious traveller. Missoni's signature bold use of colour and striking patterns gives a cool, contemporary energy to the hotel – not only to the public spaces of the restaurant, Cucina and Bar Missoni but also to the private areas of the bedrooms and bathrooms.

The overall colour scheme is a simple, stylish black & white punctuated with brilliant flashes of colour. Rosita Missoni has combined the unmistakable Missoni prints with the work of designers that she personally admires such as Marcel Wanders, Eero Saarinen and Arne Jacobson. Arranged over the six floors of the property, guests discover iconic pieces of design, some of which Rosita Missoni has in her own home, such as Hans J Wegner’s Wishbone Chair.

Each Hotel Missoni is reflective of its location. As a tribute to the Scottish heritage, Rosita Missoni has included pieces by Charles Rennie Mackintosh including his famous Ladderback Chair. The lobby of Hotel Missoni Edinburgh also features two large mosaic urns, which will become something of a Hotel Missoni trademark.

Hotel Missoni Edinburgh offers 136 rooms and suites, some of which enjoy stunning views over the city landmarks and the famous Royal Mile. The rooms continue the palette of black & white seen throughout the property and are animated with bursts of colour. Each guest room has an en-suite bathroom that showcase Italian design. Bathrooms feature washbasin, WC and shower with a bench seat, rain shower and handheld shower. Toiletries have been specially created for Hotel Missoni and scented using a Missoni fragrance.

As the kitchen lies at the heart of an Italian family, so lies Hotel Missoni's restaurant Cucina at the heart of the property and can seat up to 100 people. Open all day from breakfast until late, Cucina offers a menu of fresh, seasonal and authentic Italian dishes. As the day progresses, the atmosphere changes from open and relaxed at breakfast and lunch to vibrant and intimate for dinner. Presentation of the dishes is complimented by china and glassware from the Missoni homeware range.

Inspired by the Italian tradition of 'passeggiata' Bar Missoni will be one of the places in Edinburgh to see and be seen. Positioned in the lobby of the hotel on the ground floor, Bar Missoni is able to hold 50 people and serves a cocktail list including classic drinks, non-alcoholic cocktails and recipes created specially for Bar Missoni.

There are three private rooms available for meetings or events, each stylishly designed in keeping with the Missoni interiors. The three rooms vary in size from 28 to 75 square metres, and the largest room can be divided into two adjoining spaces. A fourth space (100 square metres) is available for use as a breakout area.
