NEW Met Bar Opens at Metropolitan London

NEW Met Bar Opens at Metropolitan London
Now the Met Bar has re-opened its doors with a whole NEW look featuring an expanded and innovative cocktail menu and classic seasonal British cuisine.

The Met Bar, at the Metropolitan Hotel on Old Park Lane, confirms Mayfair's place on the map as the place to be seen in London. For the first time, the Met Bar will be ending its "Members-Only" policy, making it accessible to all from early in the day to late at night.

A sleek black lava-stone bar top snakes through the space capping a leather-clad bar front. Rich timber sets off the warm plum and butterscotch tones of the banquettes and chairs. The painted glass tables' golden highlights reflect the natural light that floods into the bar during day through the new glass wall. The evening brings a change of mood when the electromagnetic glass becomes opaque. The space features a corrugated cardboard relief by British artist Giles Miller, renowned for his Stella McCartney Pop-up in Paris. (The interior of the old Met Bar was sold at auction on eBay for £5000 with the money raised donated to The Metropolitan Hotel's official charity partner, "Teens Unite – Fighting Cancer.")

DRINKS
The Met Bar's new drinks menu offers an extensive wine list, vintage Champagne by the glass, and expertly made cocktails. By incorporating unique combinations of the highest quality spirits, exciting flavors and textures, and bespoke chocolates by Laurent Couchaux, the principal chocolatier at Rococo, the menu offers something for everyone.

FOOD
From midday until late, guests can feast from the new menu showcasing iconic British food including starters like potted shrimp, fennel and orange baby loaf with a parsley and chili salad, and ham hock and parsley terrine with a beetroot and pickled walnut salad. Main courses include lemon poached monkfish, kedgeree cakes, fresh vegetable salad with a honey and mustard dressing, and Dedham Dale beef and Stilton pie with sloe gin gravy.
