New Mexico Luxury Resort Provides Authentic Native American Experience
Rich in its history of the Tamayame, (people of Tamaya) who settled on the Pueblo of Santa Ana more than one thousand years ago, the resort provides multiple activities to educate visitors about Native American culture and tradition.

Based on resort property, the Tamaya Cultural Museum and Learning Center educates visitors about the Tamayame and their journey and settlement on the Pueblo of Santa Ana. The resort also provides many Native American activities to guests including traditional Native American bread baking, Native American jewelry and pottery making classes, Native American story telling under the stars, and more.

On July 26, the Hyatt Regency Tamaya will celebrate the annual Pueblo of Santa Ana Feast Day in which a ceremonial corn dance will be held in honor of the Pueblo's patron saint, Saint Ann. The Feast Day celebration allows members of the public to take part in a traditional and religious ceremony conducted by members of the Santa Ana Pueblo to renew the pueblo's culture, language, and religion. The Pueblo will celebrate the Feast Day with traditional cuisine, dance, music, and members of the tribe will dress in traditional Native American regalia including feathers, bells, jingles, and fringes.

In addition, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, owned and operated by the 19 Indian Pueblo Tribes of New Mexico, and dedicated to perpetuate Pueblo culture and to advance understanding by presenting with dignity and respect, the accomplishments and evolving history of the Pueblo people of New Mexico, will provide guests to the Hyatt Regency Tamaya with a “Buy One, Get One Free” coupon to experience traditional Native American culture and art. The museum features the “Our Land, Our Culture, Our Story” exhibit and includes original artwork and craftsmanship from each of New Mexico's 19 Pueblos.

The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center offers changing exhibitions throughout the year including “Saints of the Pueblos” an exhibition of retablos by renowned New Mexico santero, Charles M. Carrillo whose work recognizes each Pueblo's patron saint. For information on the Pueblo Feast Days that commemorate Pueblo patron saints, please visit www.indianpueblo.org/19pueblos/feastdays.html.
