Forget the predictable Khaki's and canvas, this safari lodge's new décor takes its influences from, and is emblazoned with, the vibrant colors and textures of the African people. Guests could be forgiven for thinking they were in a funky cosmopolitan penthouse, until they stepped outside that is.

With wrap around floor to ceiling windows providing magnificent vistas the 6 well-proportioned suites each feature a different base colour and comprise spacious bedrooms, lounges and large bathrooms with new free-standing baths to offer a colourful respite from dusty days out on the reserve. Super-King sized beds, ottomans and day beds that can be reconfigured to easily accommodate children along with funky bean bags provide a fun, relaxing and sumptuous environment that is more conducive to the way we take time-out to enjoy our downtime in the world today.

Furnishings are in soft linens, velvets, cords and eco-cottons in striking, bright and contrasting tones. Many Southern African items have been incorporated into the interiors. Blankets made from South African mohair, acknowledged to be of the finest quality available internationally, come from the Angora goat that thrives in the Karoo region; cotton and linen throws were weaved by a boutique mill in Plettenberg Bay; soft furnishings and curtains designed and handmade by craftsmen in Port Elizabeth; framed prints of wild African animals designed by an artist who donates to the Rhino Orphanage charity; Nguni Skins come from KwaZulu Natal; beaded kudu heads and giraffes were bought from the market traders during the nearby Grahamstown National Arts Festival; display baskets and beaded necklaces were sourced from a collaboration of individual artisans and community based projects.

Enticing guests to gather and relax in after their game drives and safari activities, several different shared lounging and dining options have also been added both in and outside. Each with its micro ambience, guests will find a sofa to curl up and read a good book on, lounge in as they chat about the day's excitements and recline into for their pre or post dinner drinks.
